This was probably one of the most challenging photoshoot I have ever had. It was my first time and I had no idea how to get here. It took me almost 2 hours to get to this location, Pantai Kelanang, Banting. I must thank a few people for making this shoot possible. Zamir and wife, thank you for the time you spent to show me the way and be there till end of the session. To my beloved wife Maisarah, you are my greatest supporter, my backbone. What would I do without you? I can’t thank you enough for what you have done. Nanti I belanja makan sedap-sedap okey.

My heart was telling me it was going to be a good day and it was! It was bright and sunny but only for half an hour. The rest of the session was raining and cloudy. In fact, I had to stop shooting in the middle of the session because the rain was quite heavy. All I could do was protect my cameras underneath my t-shirt. There was no place to hide. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic session.

Koh Lipe Citizens

c1a c2 c3 c4

One of my favourite things to do while travelling is to capture faces of local citizens. To be honest, at first I was afraid to ask but when I think again, I have got nothing to lose. If they refuse, I will just walk away. Well, guess what? I was fortunate during this trip because non rejected me.

I’m not familiar with asking complete strangers to be photographed. In fact, this was my first time but all I can say is, smile, smile and smile and insya’Allah they will smile back at you. Once you’ve got the eye contact, the process becomes smoother. Most of the time they will say yes.

Most of my shots here were taken with Nikon F6 + Tudorcolor XLX 200 and Superia Xtra 400. Photo of the bald guy, shirtless with a scar line on his stomach was shot on Contax 645 + Pro 400H.

The Yohan Family

I met this Swedish couple, Yohan and Maria during my recent trip to Koh Lipe. They were having fun with the kids on the beach and I said, what a beautiful family. So, I approached and offered them if they wanted to be photographed. Obviously, the answer was yes and we spent a couple of minutes for a quick session.

I would like to thank Yohan and Maria for the wonderful session and hope you enjoy your stay in Koh Lipe and Langkawi. Till we meet again.

Koh Lipe, Thailand

My friends and I recently took a trip to Koh Lipe, Thailand. It was an amazing experience regardless the weather condition to say the least. I could imagine if the weather was bright and shining, it would have been extremely wonderful. That did not happen until the last day before we left. You can see the photos look different towards the end.

However, we enjoyed our 4D3N stay at Bundhaya Resort. Customer service was fantastic. The food? Damn I would come back for that. There were 2 places we went everyday for snacking and coffee. I don’t remember the name of these places but they make great Brazilian coffee and Nutella bread. Look for that if you’re there.

Don’t forget to make your way to sunrise and sunset beach or if you’re staying on that side of the island, it should be in front of you lol. Amazing view and photo opportunity. All in all, I would come back to Koh Lipe for many reasons with hope that the weather will be kind to me in the next visit.

For photographers, this set was shot on Contax 645 + Pro 400H and Nikon F6 + Superia Xtra 400 and Tudorcolor XLX 200.

Naziah & Syed Iskandar / Maternity Session

a1a a2 a3 a4 a5 a6 a7 a8 a9 a10 a11 a12 a13 a14

You can straight away tell when someone is so madly in love. Like people say and I quote, time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity.

Naziah will be due in 3 months and I wish both of you a healthy baby and best of luck!

Shot on Nikon F6 + Agfa Vista Plus 400.

Dahlia’s Maternity Session

It’s been a while since my last maternity shoot. Had an amazing session with mom-to-be, Dahlia who is going to give birth anytime soon. All the best to you and the baby! To Kamal (the husband), if you’re in the labour room with Dahlia, do not black out LOL.

For this session I used 3 different types of film. On Contax, the usual Pro 400H. On Nikon F6, I loaded Tudorcolor XLX 200 and Kodak T-Max 400 for black and white images.
